Video Pro X with Xara - Errors and XAR object is emptied upon restart

Hi,

Using Video Pro X13 and Xara Designer Pro X 19 to create an animated overlay is still broken. After creating an animation and upon trying to return from Xara, two error messages pop up indicating that the Xar object is not saved. The animation shows up in a XAR object on the timeline properly. Save the project. Close and reopen the project and the XAR object is now empty.

There was a time when this worked perfectly and one was able to create multiple overlays using Xara. The feature has been broken for that last couple of years.

The same problem occurs with Movie Edit Pro 2022.

Can anyone replicate this bug?

I also encountered the same problem, I hope the manufacturer can explain the problem and help to solve it.

Is that version of Xara even supported any more?

I can't find it on the Xara website.

@CubeAce Xara sells a subscription version of Xara Designer with a different version number. I belive the newest version from Magix is Xara Designer Pro X 19.0.1.65946 from February 2023.

I sometimes have difficulty finding products on the Magix site itself so thank you for that information as I was wondering if it is the fault of Magix or Xara that it is not integrating well.

Having said that if anyone needs a free audio plugin that could be used in any of the Magix software audio mixers, Magix has one here until the end of the month.

@CubeAce Yeah, if you would subscribe to Xara you'll get access to their browser based editor plus the desktop version. They still have the desktop version because their browser solution doesn't have all features yet. I'm pretty sure, that at one point they might drop Xara desktop completely. For some years now they pretty much don't advertise it anymore.

Hi Ray,

I presume that you found Xara on the normal web pages under Photo & Design/Design where there are the 4 products. Xara Designer Pro X is the combination of the other 3 in 1. It is the only product left that still has the Update Service. This is because of the Online Content Catalogue - one-year access (and it has access problems).

There was a time when this worked perfectly, then they broke it, partially repaired it, broke it worse, fixed partially, broke it again. I blame both Magix and Xara. This is an excellent tool when it works properly. I have described the workaround, but one should not have to do that.

Hi,

Please raise a ticket with Magix under SUPPORT at the top of this forum, select Photo & Design, then the product Xara, scroll to the bottom of the screen, click on CONTACT SUPPORT, and fill out the form and send it. You can send them a link to this thread and to the video for my Bug048. I will also send them a reminder that they have done nothing. If they reply back to you that this is new, reply back that "no, it is not new and Magix has been made aware of these bugs several times in the past and has done nothing to fix them."
