Try 'Effects' >> 'Video effects' >> 'Brightness/Contrast' to the section needing correction. Did you look for brightness in the Help file?

Hi

The biggest problem you have depends on how much extra exposure hitting the backlight button gave to the video resulting in the highlights burning out.

For example what was,  say a pale shade of any colour, will now be almost white and unfortunately in this case no amount of adjustment will get the highlights back into their correct range of brightness and colours.
