Video effects for flashbacks

Hi, I'm making a short film and for a scene at the end, a man is in a dream and he's supposed to have flashbacks of things that happened in his real life, any suggestions of how to make them 'flashy' ? I want to alternate between the man and his flasbacks, and I'm not sure what video effects etc would be good. I have Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus. Thanks, any advice is much appreciated.

I have an older version(14),but one you could possibly try to play around with,( if it's included in your version) is: Fades/Standard, then select "Waves". Hope this may help,as it's the only one thing I could think of that comes near!

Good luck,

1bib,

I'm particularly fond of 'alpha channel' effects -- not a specific pre-sets but DIY experimenting with sometimes surrealistic imagery. An example, ignoring the audio tracks:

Track 1 - Man dreaming

Track 2 - Alpha chroma key applied to a flashback clip

Track 3 - Man dreaming, copy of track 1 but with some other effect applied such as a color shift or extreme contrast.

The result can be that the viewer sees, but doesn't really see, the flashback action. The effect might be too subtle (or bizarre!) for an entire shot but would make a great introduction fading into more normal flashback action.

Carl
