video capture issue, program or capture device

source(s) - usually vhs PAL tape, either pre-recorded or off-air tv recording

intent - transfer to DVD (form my own use)

i've always had this problem with motion in scenes with movement otherwise stationary it looks fine.

(both of me watching the capture in progress (no sound as its the picture i'm questioning), mp4 conversion of the .VOB file)

should the capturing be like that when it's coming in?

result, the first has that line in the middle in picture during the motion, the 2nd is not so bad but you can see it as well)

is this normal, is it the Magix Software or is it the capture device

capture device - Vidbox NW03 rca connection is what i'm using until i'm convinced there's a better one that doesn't cause this if that is the issue.

Or is there some buttons i can change in the capture box (Record Quality - currently set at MXV - DVD nothing else changed)

Windows 10 Pro version 21H1, Toshiba tecra laptop

I think it's your capture stick.

A capturing program won't have this effect on a video. It (they) basically just copy the signal coming in from the stick. I don't think they "process" the video coming in, per se. The stick video (on the left) needs boosted whites and blacker blacks and maybe a bit of extra saturation/colour, which you can adjust using third-party free software prior to capture, although the lower bitrate of MEP "MXD:VHS" quality is having an effect on the overall quality (eg more fuzziness/pixellation). I agree, the DVD recorder certainly is miles better in that example.

yea i did 2 projects with laptop HDMI to the TV hdmi socket and tweaked MEP back and forth until it was close enough to the DVD Recorders taping.

i wasn't sure if the Advance option could be tweaked before the capturing.

i'd have to find a real good capturing device (like i said so many choices) or just import from the DVD recorders taping and work from there.

not many ways out that end only video is HDMI and 75 ohm

front end options - any optical media (dvd and blu ray).

the recordings (you've taped) menu can also move to (and get this) an empty USB HDD (not a used one and not a stick) say like to make room on the HDD and then you can copy them back when required BUT when i connected that external to my laptop it didn't read the content which i thought darn.

maybe if record via HDMI output to an external HDMI recorder (or one that has rca's) and import files into MEP

I have a similar DVD Recorder. They are locked-tight as far as getting files off the internal hard drive so you can edit them; the only way is to put the video on to a DVD/BD disk then transfer it that way (as you have been doing).

Do you mean when connected to your network as a DLNA server you cannot browse the hard drive from the PC to pull the files off?

I've tried to get them off an external HDD but it is as Mark says.

I don't know about that specific receiver, however with my satellite receiver, hard drive I can access the video files through the LAN, so it is worth trying.
