Video and Audio Out of Sync (Only on export file)

Chris-Kuhn wrote on 9/4/2020, 4:15 PM

Hi everyone. I have an issue with a recent project I'm trying to export- the video and audio do not sync up, but only on the exported file. When played in MEP 2020 everything is in sync and plays well.

I've tried adjusting the project settings frame rate to different rates to no luck. What seems odd is that I originally set up the project for 29 (29.97) frames a second, but looking at the exported file it shows 25 frames a second. An image displaying export properties for the video is attached.

After searching the forums I've read others having this issue, and that there could be a difference in frame rates in my clips, but I'm unable to correct the issue after many attempts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris

FIXED. But I have no Idea why haha.

What I did was create a new project, then copy/paste everything from the project that was exporting out of sync into the new project's timeline, and everything was correct and back in-sync on export.

On MEP2013 I had to do this same 'fix' when the cursor would get stuck at the beginning of the timeline, and just kind of glitch out. No amount of closing and opening Magix would correct it, so I had to copy/paste the project I was working into a new project as a work-around.

Anyways, if anyone can provide insight as to what happened I'd love to know. *head scratch*

Hi Chris.

If you are working with MP4 files of mixed frame rates do you go through the project and right click each clip and select Create New Frame Table for each clip?

Hey Ray.

No, I usually just have my frame rate set in my cameras to match, and then import. This project though, I used a few animations from pixabay, which had variable rates. Magix always prompts me to adjust these on import if they're different, and I'm wondering if that's where the issue was. Curious why the cut/paste fixed it.

I've never worked with frame tables, but I'm guessing there is a probably a good section in the manual to check out for an issue like this?

@Chris-Kuhn

Mixing file types from different sources not only may mean different frame rates but different GOP structures. That tells MEP how many of each type of frame is in use in what order. MEP has to try to make sense of that and sometimes will fail joining one clip to the next at the GOP boarder between one clip and the next throwing it out of sync. Creating a new frame table for each clip sometimes helps but it is never a good idea to use variable frame rate clips in a video editor.

Look at the explanation about each file type in the manual at the end.

Hi Ray

. . . . If you are working with MP4 files of mixed frame rates do you go through the project and right click each clip and select Create New Frame Table for each clip? . . .

According to the manual, and a discussion I had with Magix several years ago, this only applies to issues with MPG files.

. . . . I used a few animations from pixabay, which had variable rates . . . .

If you mean 'variable frame rates (VFR), this is most likely the issue, MEP does not like VFR and they should be converted to constant frame rate using Handbrake or another converter that can do this.

Hi John.

Odd that the option is there for all file types then. Normally options are blanked out or just not there for some things.
