Version 13 saving as wav files

glen-c wrote on 7/27/2020, 2:20 PM

I am converting m4a files to wav format for use in a phone system. Format is 8khz, 8bit, Mono uLaw.

EVERY time I save a file in this format, I get a loud click saved at the end of each file. I can re-open it and then delete the click. Once I save it again, the click is back. Is this some setting or am I missing something?

Thanks

I cannot duplicate the behavior with the AAC files I have. They sound pretty awful, but that is expected at that low res. Does this occur when rendering to a more 'normal' PCM file setting (48k/16 for instance).
Suggestions to try
- Enable "Always proxy compressed formats" in the "Options> Preferences> General" menu
- Confirm the waveform starts and ends on a zero crossing...
- Detect and remove DC offsets
- Prior to rendering, re-sample to 8k using an anti-alias filter and convert to 8 bits using the advanced bit depth converter.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @glen-c.,

Addendum: Try rendering as a <.raw> file and change the extension to <.wav> if needed
