Hi there,

It's no problem to have several versions of Music Maker on one system at the same time. They're completely independent programs and won't interfere with one another. Just don't try anything funny, like trying to merge them in one installation directory or something like that.

Another option is to simply copy the soundpools and synths into your MM15 directories.

You should be able to find your "soundloops" folders for both versions.  Simply copy the files from MM12 to MM15 (both programs should not be running).  After copying, when you start up MM15, it should recognize the new soundloops and load them into the database.

I have Vista and MM14pe; my soundloops folder is at c:\Users\Tim\Documents\MusicMakerPE\Soundloops.  You should be able to figure out the equivalent location in Windows XP.  After copying the files, my MM14pe has both the free soundloops from MM14pe and MM12; cool.

As far as synths.  This is a little more tricky.  You want to find the "Synth" folders for both versions.  On Vista, my MM14pe folder is at C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\MusicMaker14pe\Synth

I'm not sure what the equivalent for "\ProgramData" is in Windows XP, but you should be able to find it.

Inside "Synth" you will see .syn files for your synths.  Just copy the .syn file (Revolta.syn, for example) and the matching folder (if there is one).  For example, MM12 had Copper.syn (no matching folder).  MM14pe doesn't.  To get the Copper synth, I copied "Copper.syn" into the MM14pe folder.

You can also copy the matching icons.  In that same Synth folder, you should see a folder called "Icon".  That contains the little icons that appear in Music Maker.

The only one that gave me trouble was the VoiceSynth.syn.  I remember I got an error opening that one up in MM14pe and had to copy something specific to get that one to work, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was.  I've never been able to figure out how to use that voice synth anyway, but I did get it working with a little hunt and peck.

If you have problems, let me know.  I can give you more specifics if you like.

Good luck.
