I have MM Soundtrack edition (Feb 2014) which works OK. The Help file says there is a "mouse mode" to drag an item to change the tempo (timestretch). And I've found elsewhere that shortcut keys ALT-7 might switch mouse mode to this timestretch option. But it does nothing, and I cannot find anyway to use the mouse to change the speed of an item by dragging on the timeline.
How can I do this, please?

I also have MM Soundtrack Edition as well as MM2014 Premium.
In MM2014 Premium, I can see the mouse mode and I can change the tempo. In MM SE I cannot, even though the manual says that I can. In MM SE I do not even have the mouse pointer symbol in the menu bar at the top of the screen even though it shows up in the image in the manual. I also found the page in the Help screen (F1) for mouse modes and Alt+7 is there. However, there is a second screen for mouse modes and then Stretch and the shortcut indicated there is Ctrl+7, or number key 7. Furthermore, Shift+P does not work to get the Timestretch and pitchshift rack. Right-clicking on an object and selecting Tempo & Pitch only gives Harmony and Set Pitch (depending on the type of object) as possiblities. There is no option for timestretching. Magix has some problems between the program and the manuals and I will raise this with them on their support site. I could find no related questions there. This was the bad news.
The good news is, the rack for timestretching and pitch shifting is available under Effects, Object Effects Rack or E. It is the fourth rack down call time processor. This will do what you wanted to do with the mouse. It is probably a better way to do it. When you move the nob for the tempo you will see the object change length.
I will let you know what message I get from Magix.
You should check for updates. The latest is 19.0.7.61, but it will not help in this particular case.

Excellent answer. I contacted MAGIX and they gave me a discount voucher to buy MM Premium, so I have spent more money with them :-) and bought Premium (I see it also has some extra features like auto-tune that I'd like).
Do you NEED to keep both Soundtrack editition and Premium on the computer? ie. does Soundtrack have anything that Premium does not?

Congratulations on your upgrade. There is one thing, you can only record from one source at a tme.
I got my version because it came with something else and included some soundpools that I did not have but wanted, actually movie scores. It would have cost more to buy them separately.
Thus you should just check to see what came under demos
C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Music Maker Soundtrack Edition\_Demos
and copy the folders to MMM2014 at the same location.
Then check to see where you put any soundpools that came with MM SE to make sure that they are not with the program data files. Mine are all under
C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Soundpools
so in MMM and other Magix programs I just have to indicate this folder and the programs find and load my soundpools. I also keep other files from Magix, like audio (songs, sound effecs), MxSynth, videos, and images (I use Move Edit Pro as well) in other folders under Common. Easy to find.
After that, you can uninstall the program.
