Upgrade service query

terra3 wrote on 2/26/2020, 2:19 PM

I have been subscribing to Samp365 for a bit over a year. I see that there is an offer re: "Upgrade Service" for the product that lets one purchase the Suite for $199.

Waiting on what might be a lengthy response in emails from Magix, but does anyone know if this 'upgrade' is available from someone who is subscribed to Samp365? I pay ~ $70 every 3 months for Samp365. If I read this right I could have this program for $199 for a year (well . . . . as of end of May 2020 as I've paid in advance for that with Samp365), and then chance that a year from that date another reasonable upgrade offer would be cheaper than Samp365.

Am I reading all of this right? The explanations available don't give me the answers that I need.

Thanks

Hi,

I have no idea if you can switch from the 365 program to the regular program or how. As well, I'm surprised to see that the Update Service has been extended to Samplitude, as it was not before. Here is the link to what the Update Service is all about. Samplitude is not mentioned as being part of it, but I see that in the advert part for Samplitude Pro X4 Suite, Upgrade, the "i" for the link to the Update Service shows up.

This is not the same thing as the 365 program. Read the details for the Update Service. Assuming that Samplitude is now on the Update Service program, you get whatever is being offered, Samplitude Pro X4 Suite and SoundForge Pro 12, nothing more. You get updates and new versions of Samplitude over the 1 year period, if any, that you can keep even if you do not renew the Update Service after 1 year. The program keeps on running. However, if you don't renew and you have to reinstall after the 1 year period, then you only get whatever was available when you paid - no updates, no other version. In reality, the only difference between the Update Service and the way it was before, is that you get an advance on anything new that you can keep unless you have to reinstall having not paid. You renew to lock in the updates, like a new version, the same as before.

You are on the 365 program. That means that if you don't pay, the program stops working. That is quite different.

Received response from Magix. Upgrade from Samplitude 365 to 'any' other upgrade is possible i.e. even taking advantage of a discounted yearly Samp 365 while in the middle of the 3 month payment sub for the same. You'd lose credit for anything paid for, but I see that as par for the course for most businesses nowadays . . ]

So now to reconsider this Samp 365 and the only thing I have issue with: can only have it active on one device at a time, regardless of when you are using it (or not). I have a PC workstation as well a mobile laptop. You 'need' that internet connection available if you want to deactivate on the device that you aren't wanting to use it on, and reactivate on the one you want to use it on. I never thought much of this restriction until I realized it 'did' become bothersome and if in an area without any practical internet connection (I live in the sticks, so that is wireless internet pretty much always), you're hooped if you didn't deactivate/activate in advance of getting into that environment. Doesn't happen much, but it happened to me twice over the past year, so considering scaling back down to just Samp Pro purchase from the Suite even in with these discounts I end up paying slightly more. At least none of this deactivate/activate BS . . . . .
