Updated ProX14 and cannot burn dvd from previously created image

RogerGunkel wrote on 7/18/2023, 10:53 AM

I updated my ProX14 a few months back, but now find that although all my dvds have a file in the disc image folder, there is no longer an option in the drop down file menu for burning a dvd from a previously created disc image. Has anyone else had this problem, is it just my system, or how do I go about correcting it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Roger,

Was this ever possible? I ask, because it's something I have never needed to do nor was even aware of the possibility!

In my case, with the VPX-created .iso image file I simply use software like Ashampoo Burning Studio or ImgBurn, which reads the file format and creates the required disc.

Hi Roger

This Burn CD/DVD option was removed starting with VPX 12 v18.x.x.xx.

The program that the option launched was Speed3burnR (Speed.exe) which was located in the folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MAGIX\Speed3_burnR_mxcdr_MSI

If it is still installed you can launch it from the folder above.

Thanks for the response guys. I used the 'Burn dvd from existing disc image' from the file dropdown menu for many years including over 100 dvds for a school filming last Christmas which was after I upgraded to VPX14. It was a very efficient and fast tool which was invaluable for many years.

I have tried using the Speed3_burnR directly, but dragging the image file from the disc image folder results in a non UDF file on the dvd. When written before the change to the programme, speedburn was automatically selected and selecting the appropriate disc image file resulted in a normal dvd player readable disc. The dvds that I tried to produce yesterday, had all the video files on but no menus. I've chucked them now but I think the file type produced was something like CDS.

I've downloaded the Ashampoo software to try, but am disappointed that something I have done effortlessly in Magix for many years and thousands of dvds no longer works.

Hi Roger

Personally I used Nero Burning ROM for burning ISO's to disc especially when multiple copies were required, it coped well with simultaneous burning on multiple DVD burners.

Thanks John, I have used Nero a long way back, but I tried Ashampoo last night and that looks as though it will do multiple copies with no problem.
