Update Service Photostory Deluxe

PeterD58 wrote on 3/26/2020, 5:12 AM

Hi, I have been getting emails saying the update service for Photostory Deluxe will expire in a few days, along with a price for the update (£34.99). I bought the program on April 23rd April 2019, so presume I can ignore this message and make a decision closer to that date, i.e. I presume the update service already in place is valid until then?

It also looks like an update to the 2020 version, so presume if I do not pay for this my 2019 version will not get updates or patches once the 12 months are up?

Thanks Peter

From my experience, notifications of the Update Service being about to expire seem to start being sent about a month before the actual expiry. Hence, I think the reason for the emails you've received.

It also looks like an update to the 2020 version, so presume if I do not pay for this my 2019 version will not get updates or patches once the 12 months are up?

Yes, the latest version is "2020" (actual current version number is 19.0.2.46). If you choose to not renew the service then yes, your version will stay at "2019". And it is not standard Magix policy to offer updates or patches to "older" versions of their software; they really want you to update/upgrade!!

However, since your Update service is still current I wonder: can you access and download the "new" version before renewing that service? After all, it is an update released within the 12 months of your initial purchase.

@PeterD58

Hi,

Once installed, check also that you have the latest patch as Jeff pointed out.

When your Update Service period runs out, there is no real need to renew right away. You won't get any patches or new features, and if you don't have any problems, just keep going; the program will keep working. If you ever have to reinstall, you will be rolled back to the version available when you last paid.
