hector2 wrote on 7/4/2017, 10:44 PM

For the last couple weeks I have been trying to perform this update.

I click on Perform Update Now It starts off unusually long, but after about 15-20 min it will reach only 5% then close out.

This is on Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium ver. 16.0.4.98

I've tried 3 different location to perform update, at home, at work and at my sisters. all with great internet. Not sure what to do from here.

here is my computer specs

Thank You in advanced for any help!

Hector

Hi.

I believe I understand your frustration about this problem, especially since it seems to affect your computer in "3 different locations". Unfortunately, the inevitable conclusion to be drawn from that statement is that the problem is something in your computer!

One possible cause is that your firewall and/or antivirus is for some reason blocking the downloading of the necessary files from Magix (the latest update is a file of something like 870 MB, if I remember correctly, so does take quite some time to download).

Can you check this by making sure your firewall "allows" connections to the Magix server, even (temporarily) disabling/turning off your firewall and antivirus, at least whilst you are attempting the download?

Please let us know whether or not this allows you to successfully download the update.

Well, I turned off all firewall and tried to download update, and this time it only went to 2% and closed out. hmm. Any other thoughts?

Thanks for helping.

Hi.

Sorry that didn't help!

My only other thought is whether your hard drive has enough free space to be able to download the file before running the update? I notice you previously managed to download about 5%, now it is 2%. Is it possible there is hardly any free space left on your hard drive?

Oh I have enough space, I just got the purer a little over a month ago. 532 ssd I strictly use it for vid editing and I keep all raw files on an external drive. Think I will try a fresh install of software. Will let you know if that helped

Hi

. . . . I just got the purer a little over a month ago. 532 ssd . . . .

Do you mean you got the computer a little over a month ago?

We need more information:

  1.     Computer specification, include the following:

    - processor make/model

    - graphics card or chipset used

    - RAM - quantity installed

    - hard drive size and free space

  2. Windows version and is it up to date
  3. Antivirus make and version

If you are on Windows 10 use this procedure to re-install the software, it also covers checking your Windows installation and removing files which get left behind after the un-install Movie Edit Pro. Failure to do this can result in you still having the same issues.

Also please read this post before replying and add any other information you think may be relevant.

Well, isn't that interesting...

Just got back home last night from my sis. Thought I would try one more time to perform Update, before proceeding with a fresh reinstall, and boom!! Downloaded and Updated without a glitch.

I did not do anything different from past attempts. Not sure what the deal was and not sure what solved it. Never had an issue with past updates.

At any rate up and running now. Thank You Magix for such an awesome editing program. I came from Sony Vegas Pro 12 and started using this when Magix acquired Vegas, absolutely love it! I recommend this program to everyone I know.

www.HectorsShop.com is where I post my tutorials. I create instructional video's for Small Engine Repair

and this program has made me super efficient.

Thank You once again Magix!
