Unable to save mp4

Srini wrote on 12/16/2020, 9:03 AM

After the last update of Sound Forge Audio Studio 14 to Build 86, on Windows 10, after editing an mp4 file, cannot save it back as mp4. Gives error, 'No template was specified'. Saving as .mov gives error 'QT not able to initialize'. (Would not want to use .mov anyway.) BTW, can save as .avi, but results in a huge file. What went wrong? Please help. Need to save as .mp4. Thanks.

Try it like this:

Menu -> File -> Save as -> Click the down arrow for the type field ->

choice "Sony XAVC / XAVC S (*.mxf; *.mp4)"

-> Click at "Custom" -> choice the your option (video and audio) -> OK

'Save as' using the Sony or MC AAC audio codec (.mp4 or .m4a file extension) and mux in (replace) the audio, The original video data is untouched. However I cannot instruct you how to do this within AS (Audio Studio).

Thank you, Joao and Rick. 'Save as' as suggested by you is exactly how I used to do it. However, with the Build 86 update of Audio Studio 14, this option disappeared. I just heard from MAGIX Support acknowledging the defect, and asking me to roll back to Build 75 while they fix it.

I have the same problem of not being able to save mp4 files in Sound Forge 14 (build 86) as there is no mp4 extension in the save list. Has this problem been fixed by Magix?

86 is still the latest build; there is no fix yet. You may contact Support to help you roll back to Build 75 in the interim.

Thanks Srini. I will do that.
