When I attempt to record a new file, I receive these error messages. From previous experience, I believe this is because some drivers are missing. Also, the third message shows the default rate is frozen at 48,000 -- Sound Forge normally works at 44,100. Thanks for your help.

What manufacturer PC and what sound interface are you using? (the screenshot appears to be a Realtek card). Are you attempting to 'record what you hear', from a mic or other source?
Confirm the playback and record (new file) are set the the same sample rate. Try another Audio Device Type in, "Options> Preferences> Audio". MS Sound Mapper and Classic Wave Driver are usually trouble-free.
If you wish to request a tech Magix support ticket, it is a convoluted procedure. Below is a cheat sheet 1. Select the "SUPPORT" at the top of the page 2. Choose your product (Sound Forge Pro for instance) 3. Click the "Ask Support" box on bottom right of page 4. Under "I NEED HELP WITH" >> choose "Music" or other generalized category and ignore the "Perhaps this will help you" option 5. Further down on the page choose your product ... (again) 6. At the bottom-right of page, click the blue button "SEARCH FOR OTHER SOLUTIONS" 7. Enter a keyword, such as 'Record' and click the "FIND A SOLUTION" button 8. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "SEND A SUPPORT REQUEST" 9. Log in to your account (again) if necessary. You can also change the subject and keyword at this point. 10. "Describe your issue" in detail in the text box. 11. Select "Submit" 12. Click "OK" You should receive a confirmation email from Magix support with a Ticket #. If you do not receive it in an hour or so, it could be in your Spam and Junk mail folders.
Thank you for this information! I am using a Windows 10 on a Lenovo computer. I do see the work Realtek pop up sometimes .....somewhere. I am a hypnotherapist and I make special recordings for my clients to listen to. I usually just record and then delete all my mistakes, save and upload to one drive to send it to them or to Wetransfer.

Looking at the Advanced setting for the Stereo mixer it looks like the audio drivers are the ones installed by Windows.
On my Lenovo and PC not all features of the audio chip were enabled, I had to replace the Windows drivers with drivers direct from Realtek, to get all the features active.
I would also recommend you turn off the Audio enhancements option in the Advanced tab shown in your image, they interfere with recording on my Lenovo laptop.
