Moderator moved your topic to the ACL group.

That said, confirm that the proper input is selected in Windows sound setting.

Hi,

Beyond getting Windows sound settings to recognize your record player pre-amp, in SFACL, Import, Vinyl, click on Settings. Under Audio input, select your input. It will probably be Line-in if you have connected your pre-amp to the line-in on your computer.

Hi

In additon to the previous comments, if you are running Windows 11 check that the Windows settings, Privacy & Security, Microphone, Let desktop apps access your microphone is turned on.

The setting is incorrectly named as it affects all recording inputs not just the microphone.

Most laptops have a single TRRS (tip, 2rings and sleeve, socket for headphone and microphone, the same as mobile phones, the output from the pre-amp is likely to overload the input, in which case an external USB audio device that has stereo Line-in input is necessary, check out M-Audio and FocusRite and others for a suitable device.

Added after discussion with another Moderator:

Using the Stereo mixer option as a recording source, in Windows Sound settings, is a possibility providing the laptop input can handle the voltage level from a 'Line-out' most cannot as they normally expect a microphone to be connected.

There is the additional problem in that the TRRS mini jack connections for the input are mono, and though the signal may be fed to both L and R channels in the mixer, it is still mono.
