Unable to Export Video Clip to MP4 - Program Crashes but no Crash Log

Xenofex2 wrote on 9/9/2021, 12:46 PM

I would appreciate some advice on where to look please.

I have 2022 MEP (Version 21.0.1.85) and after editing a Youtube video (down to 55seconds), I have attempted to export the edited video to a MPEG4. It starts to mix down okay but seems to get within 2 seconds of completion and the program crashes. Tried it about four times and even using a converted video clip after using Movavi Video Converter it still crashes.

However what is also odd is that when I re-open the MEP no crash log appears.

Information from the downloaded Youtube clip via MediaInfo is…

Hi George

In the program settings, Device options tab there are 3 parameter boxes, Import, Processing and Export for selecting the GPU - what are they set to?

Are the Intel drivers up to date for the HD 530 - the latest version version is 30.0.100.9805.

Hi George.

How much physical ram do you have?

Have you tried changing all your program GPU settings to Microsoft WARP to see if that cures the problem?

Ray.

Re Intel Drivers, I have a (paid for) program Driver Genius and after a scan for updates, it tells me that all my Drivers are up todate. Copying over the Intel Section from the Belarc Advisor Report of my system, I have ...

Just a further query. After checking all Drivers were up todate, I opened MEP and tried to bring in the 'Saved Project Edit' but now it tells me that Quicktime is not installed (I realise this is now not supported and have not installed it for years.). Double checking I could see no reference to Quicktime in the MediaInfo log, but also, just in case I did convert the file using Movavi Video Converter. But then would I have not got that Quicktime message when I first Imported the video, surely not after editing and trying to bring in the saved project file?.

A later update.

It seems that there must be an issue with the Youtube Video that I had downloaded.

I did manage to find another version of the same clip that I had wanted, and after edit have exported to MP4 without problem and MEP has not crashed.

Curious. Thanks John for your reply though..

Hi George

. . . . Belarc Advisor Report  . . . .

Not my favourite program for getting driver details - unfortunately the list you have posted does not include the driver information for the Intel iGPU.

The Intel Graphics Command Centre can give you the correct driver information.

. . . . I could see no reference to Quicktime in the MediaInfo log . . . . .

For MOV files:

  1. Import with no QT installed

    Video
    ID                                       : 1
    Format                                   : AVC
    Format/Info                              : Advanced Video Codec

  2. Require QT or Quicktime Alternative installed

    Video
    ID                                       : 1
    Format                                   : JPEG
    Codec ID                                 : jpeg

    or

    Format                                   : PNG
    Codec ID                                 : png

John / Ray

Thankyou for your suggestions. Whilst I have managed to resolve my Issue by downloading a different clip, your answers have certainly given us ‘food for thought’.

I have been ‘googling’ to try and find how I can best find a list of Drivers installed but even running a suggested ‘InstalledDriversList’ to me does not appear to show any reference to an Intel Driver for the HD 530. I assume I have that Driver installed?

Again not really knowing where to look I referred back to the original Purchase Order of my PC to find Ram information and it looks like I have 16GB.

At least this has shown I need a better, or at least, a basic understanding of what Drivers I have installed and where to find the information.

Thankyou again for your help.

George

Hi George.

I use the free Intel update tool downloadable from here.

It keeps an eye on all your installed hardware and will inform you when there is an update. The update page shows you which drivers are currently on your system.

Absolutely superb, thankyou.

I have just downloaded and it confirms all Drivers are uptodate and confirms I have 16GB Memory Ram.

What a brilliant end to the day. Many many thanks.
