Unable to activate or register product, Music Maker 2014

Hi, I just bought Music Maker 2014 from Best Buy.  It included the serial number inside the box.  When I installed it and entered the serial number, it gave me the green check mark.  Then I entered my email for another green check mark.  When I click "Activate Now"  it loads for a second and then says, "Unable to Activate, contact support, Error code: -1" and shuts down.

So then I go to the website, but it will not let me send a help email unless I register my product.  So I try to register it online.  When I enter the serial code attempting to register Music Maker 2014, it says it is incorrect.

I'm using Windows 7, Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB ram, 64 bit OS.

How can I get my software to work?

Thank you.

I have read the same problem earlier.

First of all it is good to buy from Magix or Catooh website in case of problem they will be responsible. As in this case you bought something from third party therefore, you must contact Best Buy and explain your problem.

There was a problem with BestBuy/Magix in the past, but since you  have 2014 I would have thought that any issues would have been solved.  I have bought some Magix stuff at FRYs and it has insatalled without any problems....so, I think that since ita comes in a Magix container and has Magix stuff slapped on the cover of the DVD/CD and Magix does say product is avalible at various retailers.....it is a Magix issue....however, Lets review....Everything downloads sucessfully and then you have to go on-line to register, which also usually allows you to download more Magix content....soundpools, VST instruments, and the like...When you  register, the format should look like this

P2-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX and then you get your green check mark....if your format code doesn't look like this or start with P2...then you got a problem.  You can still contact Magix sales without a registered product and just explain your situation.  Both Magix and BestBuy want happy customers.

So, I'm not sure what the problem was.  I think error -1 has something to do with the internet connection.  I ended up reinstalling the software and it worked just fine.  Hooray for simple fixes!  Thanks!
