unable to access soundpools from older Music Maker versions

Hi fellow Music Maker users!

I downloaded the new version of Music Maker recently. I like the idea of being able to enter the serial numbers from my older Music Maker versions which I paid for in the past to easily access the contents belonging to those versions, especially since I wouldn't be able to re-install some of those older versions now, due to incompatibility with my current OS. However, this doesn't seem to be fully working for me. I seem to be able to get the old VST instruments that came with some of those Music Makers. (I don't actually have any way to check whether these are complete and include all instruments I used to have in the past.) So, that's the good part. However, here's the bad news: The entry of the old serial numbers doesn't seem to make any difference when it comes to the loop libraries that came with Music Maker in the past. I gain literally zero additional loops by going through the procedure. This is a pity since the loops really one of the most important aspects of Music Maker to me.

What do I need to do to get access to those loops? Is this a known problem in Music Maker or is there a different procedure I need to carry out? I'm sure someone else here must have come across this.

Thx & greetings from Portugal!

Nobody that can help with this? :(

I looked up some additional information, if they are required. Not sure. The version of Music Maker which I'm using is version 25.1.1.67. I managed to reinstall one of my older Music Makers, which is 2014 Premium. The serial number will then even appear in the list in the program and I should be able to access the old sounds and instruments just by clicking the button:

However, I don't get the sounds for this version either. I'm left with the VST solo instruments. The text clearly suggests that it should work.

Bom dia,

The Soundpools are normally installed under this:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Soundpools

Check what you have there. Any new ones bought or obtained through the in-program Store will be installed under:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Soundpools\Shop

Within MMM, scan the main folder above by going to the Loops tab, clicking on the gear and selecting "Add new soundpools" and navigating to the root Soundpools folder indicated above. All styles and loops should show up, except for those that are not real soundpools (no beat info or are songs).

Good to know, thanks. I have many collected soundpools from different products. I should do some file consolidation work soon myself.

Hiya, John! :)

Thanks for that. However, here's the problem: Most of those older Music Maker versions aren't currently installed on my system. In fact, I probably won't be able to install most of them even if I tried, cause they're not compatible with Windows 10. The function in the Music Maker suggests that I could just unlock the content by entering the old Music maker serial numbers. This does seem to work for the VST instruments and function but not for the sounds/loops which are part of every Music Maker version. It's not really clear why it wouldn't work. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. But why would Magix specifically exclude the loops from this, especially when they suggest it should work.

@falling_starz

Hi,

How far back are you going? My first one was 2013 basic, and I only have the install file, didn't keep any other ones, but I know that I received some Soundpools, probably +1000 Sounds. For 2014 Premium, I have the install files, but no Soundpool files, but I have a folder for +1000 Sounds_2014. For 2015 Premium, I have 2 Soundpool files, plus demo songs. I also have some Soundpool files that came with some specialty MusicMaker versions, Music Studio, and Samplitude Music Studio, some CD or DVDs of Soundpools, plus some bonus Soundpools that had to be downloaded from Catooh. However, I always installed them and kept a backup of the Sounpools in case of hard disk failure. All Soundpools were always installed in the correct place under:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Soundpools

When my hard drive did fail, I put back all of the files in the correct place.

Probably, the main reason why Magix does not have them downloaded when you activated, is because what you received in the way of Soundpools were simply audio and midi files that you can copy and move around. Also, depending on when you purchased, there may have been different Soundpools bundled with the purchase. There is no real install or uninstall as there is for instruments. It was up to you to keep a backup of these files.

So, did you keep all of the installation files? They look like this:

  • MM2015_Soundpools_INT_140721_11-11_1_0_0_0.exe
  • MM2015Premium_demo_songs_INT_140721_10-59_1_0_0_0.exe
  • MM2015Premium_Soundpools_INT_140721_11-00_1_0_0_0.exe
  • MM2015Premium_synthesizer_effects_INT_140723_10-28_1_0_0_0.exe
  • MM2015Premium_visuals_INT_140721_11-08_1_0_0_0.exe
  • Music_Maker_2015_Premium_DLV_en-GB_140814_15-40_21_0_0_30.exe
  • Vita_2_additional_content_INT_140723_10-26_1_0_0_0.exe
  • Vita_2_INT_140723_10-34_1_0_0_0.exe
  • Vita_Analog_Synths_INT_140721_11-58_1_0_0_0.exe
  • Vita_Celtic_Harp_INT_140721_12-13_1_0_0_0.exe
  • Vita_Drum_Engine_INT_140722_16-06_1_0_0_0.exe
  • Vita_Jazz_Drums_INT_140722_16-08_1_0_0_0.exe
  • Vita_Urban_Drums_INT_140721_12-16_1_0_0_0.exe
  • Vita_World_Flutes_INT_140721_12-19_1_0_0_0.exe

Plus a folder: Sound packages 1000 containing:

  • 60s Soul
  • House
  • Metal

If so, then you can try running the exe file for the Soundpools, but it will probably not install if the program is not installed. In that case, you will have to first try to install the main program, activate it, and then run the Soundpools exe files. Even if the program does not work right, you may be successful. Try it out to see.

If you are successful, backup the Soundpools first, then uninstall the program.

Good luck!

Arg, still working on all this... finding all the demo folders, soundpools, etc.... lots of confusing data to search and move while also reading around here for help.... wish it was easier, but glad it can be done, and happy so far with Magix new Edition consolidation abilities....

(from another post and thought may be helpful here too)

UPDATE:

2a.m. my time last night I finished installing my new MMPlus(2018) fresh install with no other versions loaded, activated my code for it in the "new version" box (at top) of the "Activate Edition" window. Magix properly went thru its work and communication with the store, asked me for my acct login I believe in setup, then ALL DONE! No hangups, No Errors, Speedy Quick, my credits showing in bottom info line in store browswer/tab...... BEAUTIFUL Magix Team!

I couldn't ask for it to be any more efficient, easy, or flawless.....

It even recognized all my content from previous installed versions (Soundpools) found in proper file locations on drive. I noticed when it was doing setup after I gave it my acct info, it appeared to go thru my acct and PRE-Auth all my instruments and features too!. I don't know this for sure, but I'm pretty certain most all my instruments were there and avail with no Lock icon (remember 2a.m.)! I say this because in particular my Century Guitar was not locked as mentioned yesterday and above. This is huge improvement to my first try with the Free MM25 and having entered previous codes there (lots of locks showing even though said Acquired in info box). Glad I decided to upgrade to PLUS Edition and do a clean install after removing all previous version off drive, trusting that all would be ok after Magix did its job anew/fresh!!! Worked for me at least.

Just wanted to share this, give Kudos to Magix Team for all the work getting this idea and new product model up and running so well.

~Happy Camper

PS, In addition to cleaning old software off my drive and defrag cleaning multiple times before install of MMPlus, I also opted to try the Magix PC Check & Tuning option upon install. It did its thing, gave me the option to do only what I felt comfortable allowing it to clean, also allowed it to do registry check and cleaning at next startup (check box)... I have to say it made some great improvements. My experience so far is speedy and no issues!!! I would personally recommend giving it a try, even if just for the 30 day trial period (no credit card required)!!! Cheers!
