trying to record streamed music

Wayneh wrote on 7/31/2011, 2:20 PM

I have  Audio Cleaning lab 15 deluxe which I have used previously to record streamed music from the internet

I have just purchased a new PC with Windows 7 Home Premium but am unable to now record in this way.

With my old PC I clicked on Record-  Level automation and then selected stereo mix as opposed to microphone. I now find when I do this that everything except the microphone option is unavailable to me .

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi

I think you have a Realtek HDA audio device.

In the system tray bottom right of screen, right click the loudspeaker and select Recording Devices, in the window that opens Right Click in the centre and select as shown in the image, enable the stereo mixer by Right Click.. if it is disabled

I have Magix Audio & Music Lab version 22,2,0,53.  When trying to record a record I get the pop up message "the wave shape device line in (high definition Audio) cannot be opened for recording.  Reason:  Undefined external error.  I have tried unplugging and plugging back in again to no avail.  Can someone please help.  Thanx  Wayne Rose.

@housearrest10

You have resurrected a 7 year old topic for a different product.

Please read this topic and then start a new topic.

Include the following information - putting this in your profile signature will help so we do not have to ask for it again:

  • Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset make/model, audio card or chipset make/model, RAM,  hard drive configuration and sizes?
  • Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.
  • Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

Also when posting please include the following where applicable:

  • Audio and/or video file formats being imported
  • Export format and settings used
  • MediaInfo data on audio or video - see below

If you have issues with importing audio or video please use MediaInfo to analyse a problem clip and post the results from the Text view in MediaInfo

Also add any other information you think may be relevant, in the case of the issue you are having, how are you setting AML to record, screenshots of the record setting dialogs may help.

I have the same problem as housearrest10 from 5/23/18. I have an HP pavilion desktop with windows 10 and a realtek HD audio card. Have had Audio Cleaning Lab deluxe 17 for years and recently attempted to use it after a long period of not using it. The message "the wave shape device (microphone realtek high def) cannot be opened for recording. Unknown external error" comes up. The same message came up when I switched my input to the line in jack. Can I read the answer to housearrest10's problem or can I get info on this?

Computer is HP 410-010; processor is Intel core i3-4170 cpu@370 GHz; graphics card is Intel HD graphics 4400; audio card is RTKVHD64.sys v 6.00.0001.7673; RAM 8.00 GB; I do not know how to answer the question "hard drive configuration" or "size"

@fareye

Did you see this statement right at the beginning of John EB's reply above:

Please read this topic and then start a new topic

Please do as requested and ask your question in a new thread. The requested information about your hard drive is whether it is a standard hard disc (HDD)or an SSD (solid state disc). For size, if you go to My Computer (Win 7) or This PC (Win 10) you will see what is the capacity of the drive, in GB or even TB, and how much of it is actually in use.

Bottom line: Please help us to help you!

Sorry, please don't make me feel stupid, I can do that fine by myself. I said in my last post that I didn't know how to answer some questions, thank you for steering me. I have HDD and 770 GB free of 912 GB. I have no idea what a thread is, I thought that's what I was doing. I see nothing on my page about starting a new thread, the only thing I can type in is this little box at the bottom. Underneath this box it says "cancel" or "comment". Please tell me what else I should be doing, there are no instructions here that I see. Sorry for my stupidity.

@fareye

Hi

Depending on your experience/knowledge of this and other forums, thread, topic and new comment are readily interchanged in the context of this forum, although technically (or me being pedantic) this is incorrect:

An entire topic with responses is a thread and, although the button at the top of the page says New comment, it really means New topic

You will also read other terms, some of which you may not be familiar with and some forum jargon which cannot be avoided in order to reduce the amount of typing - for example AFAICS - As Far As I Can See, AFAIK - As Far As I Know etc.

Hopefully this clarifies what was meant by Jeff.

Please do not feel stupid about asking what an abbreviation means or clarifying what is meant .

To quote another members 'tag line' - ' The only stupid question is the one that is not asked'.
