trouble with midi editor magix 2014

I am having a problem with the midi editor on magix 2014. If using mouse mode it doesn't allow me to draw a pattern. Where ever I click to write a note I just get a large line that doesn't even write when I release the mouse. It seems to work fine with a midi controller when recording. But sometimes I wanna just use the mouse and can't seem to get to work. And help or feed back is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi

Did you have the midi note tool - shown below - selected?

Hi

. . . . If using mouse mode it doesn't allow me to draw a pattern. . . . .

Which Synthesizer are you selecting before starting to draw notes?

Also, did you create a midi object by recording some playing first, or are you starting with a blank midi object? In the latter case, did you create an empty midi object first? If not, then do so.
