Trouble importing from Canon HV20; Trial version yields "Program requires extra component for recording which requires MPEG-2-Codec MainConcept" error

I'm brand new to Magix MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2016 Plus and am using the Trial version. I need to import video from my Canon HV20 camera to Magix.  I click the "HDV camera" option but get an error "Program requires extra component for recording which requires MPEG-2-Codec MainConcept for licensing reasons. To use the recording feature, install MPEG-2-Codec MainConcept.".  Can someone help me import the video from my camera to the Magix program please?

Hi

HDV uses the MPEG 2 codec and this is normally available in the purchased program after a free on line one time activation, however with the trial version you may have to purchase the codec. Check the Help menu Install additional content and a window might appear saying " Activate online" or a dialogue might appear to purchase it and enter a serial number.

Sorry but a while since I used a trial version so not sure what the status is with MPEG2 codec in trials. As it is a less used codec nowdays we may end up having to buy it in future - for instance Windows 10 does not include it for DVD playback.
