I have an old computer running Windows XP, had bought and installed, long ago, Sound Forge 8 (along with Acid Pro 6 (that was updated); and something else maybe CD Architect). Computer is not connected to the internet, so I followed the procedure to activate at another computer. Filled in the information on the form, but cannot complete because I need the Computer ID # (whatever that is). Searches of this site and others offer little help. I have tried the number from the XP partition that is on the About and Computer name, neither work.
Why such a number is needed by Magix escapes me, but, if needed, where do I find it.
It also escapes me why I need to re-register for the MP3 functionality in Sound Forge 8, or why it becomes deactivated. I did sign into Sony and I checked that all of my products are still registered with them and they then forwarded me to Magix for further downloads and/or registration. Why can't my registration be confirmed from my account with Sony? Why is Magix not easing this process of re-registering a 3rd party app through cross referencing of existing accounts on Sony. We should have an easier process because all of our info is already there on Sony's site.
I am converting wav files of my distributed music to MP3s for Radio, etc. This is for promotions purposes of distributed music which could mean paydays with streaming. So it is a bit of a hold up.
Thanks for your help.
