Trimming clips

mikael.thieme wrote on 10/7/2015, 4:50 AM

(Video Easy 5.0.1.104 on Asus i5 laptop running Win7pro)

The most basic procedure - trimming a clip - leaves me clueless.

I follow the manual and:

1) Record/import video, clip appearing on time line, then either...

2A) ...move the in-/out-markers to my desired in-/out points and press Z/U, OR...

2B) ...place insert marker at desired new in-/out points and press scissor, to divide clip, and...

3) ...delete the now redundant head-/tail clips, so they disappear from the time line.

4) All there is on the time line is now my trimmed clip.

5) Press the green Finish Movie button and export the file.

However the resulting file is the original un-trimmed file...

What am I missing - am I trimming the wrong way, or exporting the wrong way?

Hi,

What do you mean by the resulting file is the original un-trimmed file? Do you mean that what you see in the exported file is not the same as the edit arrangement that you made and see within VideoEasy? Which format did you export to? When you preview the arrangement in VideoPro, do you see the modified arrangement or the original file?

I don't have VideoEasy, but the procedure is the same as in Movie Edit Pro and is as you have described.

Thx for your quick reply.

Yes, the exported file is not the same as my edit arrangement on the timeline.

I record a clip, trim head and tail, leaving just the trimmed (i e middle portion) clip on the timeline, and playback from timeline shows just the trimmed clip - as expected. Also the clip length (min:sec) as indicated on the clip icon on the timeline corresponds to the edited (trimmed) clip.

However when I export this edited arrangement to file (WMV, Mpeg2), the entire original clip is included - in its original length.

Hi Mikael,

I can't see anything wrong with your process. Strange. Is your edited clip at the beginning of the timeline?

Can you post a screen shot of your arrangement in VideoEasy? Maybe someone can spot something.

Did you try adding an object to be right after the edited clip, say a photo and then exporting? If not, try it to see if this works.
