Timestretch and BPM issues

Connor_ wrote on 4/3/2020, 4:17 PM

(Just a note, I have Music Maker EDM edition, in case this has something to do with the version)

I've been putting MP3 files into Music Maker, and I have only been able to set tempos with tempo & beat recognition, and I haven't been able to get the bpm I want with it. Is there a way to input it manually?
In addition, when I right click on the track and go to Pitch and Tempo, the timestretch option just isn't there and the pitch options are greyed out. Is it not a standard feature?

I am a new user, so I'm sorry if these are redundant or simple questions, it's just the other solutions I have found on the forum haven't helped me.

@Connor_

Welcome to the Magix forums.

Because .mp3 is a compressed format which is stored in "frames" (don't worry about that!) I suspect that is the reason why you cannot select a bpm or Timestretch the file.

The way to test this is to convert your mp3 files to .wav format and then try the process again. Because .wav is uncompressed it is a much more user-friendly format to use for editing purposes.

Hi @emmrecs, thank you for responding!

I used Audacity to convert it, but it still doesn't show up when I right click or hit shift+P. Here is a screenshot if it helps:

Tried saving it as a "take" too, and importing it as an ogg, no luck

Hi

. . . . Music Maker EDM edition . . . .

Did you download and install the extra content for the EDM version?

I have a recollection that this version does not have all the functionality of he Plus or Premium versions.

Hi,

See this.

MMM EDM is just the free version with an instrument and a few Soundpools. You do not have the tools to do what you want to do. You likely need Plus or Premium. See the version comparison table and the details of the Features in the Store.
