Stretching audio effects

How can I stretch audio effects so it developes over several bars. I whish, as an example, let the balance start on my left ear, and slowly move through my head ending up in my right ear after 4 bars. Or, I would like to have a Phaser like effect start with an "oooo" and end up with an "aaaa" after some bars.

I am a Norvegian man just rounded 60 years of age. I have always been very fond of music, of almost any kind and category. I did, however, prefer the Beatles as a teenager, and not the Rooling Stones. Those days this was importent. I guess I even then tended to prefer the more artistic composistions and performings rather than pure rock'n roll.

I don't play any instruments. I learned a lot of chords on a guitar as a youngster, and now I can play them on a keyboard. I can even "invent" some nice small melody fragments, but they are like dreams disolving before I can  materialize them.

About two years ago I googled some keywords that quickly lead me to the magic world of MAGIX. I could not believe what I read and saw. The Universe of my dreams available for a surpricingly low cost. For a long time I played around and puzzled together a lot of small loops and fragments. But again the challange was to merge them together into something I could call a "song".

Now I'm here, working on half a dozen "projects", slowly but with progress improving them as wall as my skills and Magix knowledge. However, I missed feedback and comments. I checked this site and desided to give it a try.

Hi,

Interesting question. I presume that you can find the sound that you want extended to the length that you want. Then click on the object, go to Effects, Automation, Display object panorama curve. Then click on the line that is created to modify it. Click on it near the beginning, at 1/3 and at 2/3 of the length approx. Drag the first point to the top. This puts all of the sound on the left channel. Drag the second point to near the top, and the third to near at the bottom (if not at the bottom, then add a point near the end and drag it to the bottom. This latter part changes the panorama to the right channel. See below for an example. The sound starts at the left and goes towards the right. My wife loved the car going from left to right. I was not impressed; I'm deaf in one ear.

I used a couple of effects that I have. They are audio files. I don't think that panoram works on midi files but you can change it to a wave object.

If you are looking for interesting effects that you can play yourself, click on the plus beside a track, select DN-e1, choose sound effects, and select a sound. It will open the syth and you can see a huge selection of sounds. Turn on the keyboard at the bottom of the screen and play a few notes.

Enjoy!

You can also try creating sounds using Revolta2. For a phaser, try the synth sound Ambient synths 006 Digital Phaser FM. Create a midi object and record just one note and hold it for a second or two. There is a lot of reverb so before converting it to a wave you need to have the object length quite long on the timeline until the sound goes to zero.

To convert the midi to an audio file, select the object, create a range, and from the top menu, Edit, Track, Compile audio (Ctrl+Shft+G). Save it and it will come back as an audio file and you can apply the panorama curve to it.

Enjoy!
