Stopping Files from Re-appearing when Burning Movie film to DVD

charter11 wrote on 2/19/2012, 6:30 PM

Because of size I have had to Burn my movie film in stages however in trying to Burn the last two files the previous file keeps appearing and no matter what I do will not go away!! The consequence is if this file is allowed to be Burnt with the others it makes the overall file too Big.

How can I stop it appearing at the Burn stage?? This is so frustrating.

Hardware is a Dell Desk Top Inspiron 530.

Operating system Windows Vista Home Premium

Magix Movie Edit Pro MX Plus

I hope someone can help.

Hi

Can you give us more information on the structure of your MEP project.

Does the project have more than one movie timeline?

Is the movie more than 2 hours long?

What burn settings are you using and are you using the image recorder or burning direct to disc?

Are you getting the message saying the movie is too large and asks you to adjust it?

John

Hello John,

Forgive me but I have only been using this software a short time and therefore I am not totally familiar with all it's workings.

I have no idea whether the movie has more than one timeline. I have simply copied the files ,edited them and spliced them to fit on to a DVD Disc.I assume therefore each film has it's own time line.

The file that keeps appearing when I try to copy the other two files is under 2 hours long and has been successfully written to a DVD disc.

The sum total of the other two files is also under 2 hours long, how ever when you add all three together it is then over two hours.

Moving on, the burn settings are standard although I have set the disc space to the highest it will go even though this can effect the quality of output.

I belive I am burning straight to disc, not sure I have seen or heard of a  image recorder?(Where ever that might be)

As mentioned above, yes I am getting a message saying the movie is too large but that is because the other movie file is sitting there and I cant get rid of it Grrrrrrr!! - nothing personal it is just so frustrating with no means of finding any answers on how to get round the problem.

Hope this answers your questions and an answer might come from it.

Here's hoping.

From what you've written my guess is that you have not removed the first file from the timeline before you attempt to burn the second disc.

IOW and the way I would tackle this problem, once you have completed the FULL project i.e. with all your 3 files present on the timeline, SAVE it and then, to complete the first disc, remove the second and third files from the timeline, set up the burn as you want it to be, SAVE this changed project under a new name, burn your disc.

Once that has completed (and I realise, effectively, this is the point you are now at), re-open the original project, delete the first file and move the second and third so that the second starts at the beginning of the timeline (obviously to be followed by the third), set up the burn as you want it, SAVE this changed project under yet another name, burn your disc.

HTH.

Jeff
