Can you explain this in more detail, perhaps with the support of a screenshot?

Do all file formats exhibit the same behavior? For instance, MP3 and PCM.

"Any music file" does not state the format(s) . Do PCM <.wav> files playback without issue? MP3 files are a conman source of playback issues. Try enabling, 'Always proxy compressed formats.. if AS has that option ; (Options> Preferences> General)

Do you have a internal soundcard or external interface? Try a different audio device type, Sound Mapper or Classic Wave Driver are usually trouble free. I do not know exactly where that setting is in AS (Audio Studio), but in SF Pro it is in the "Options> Preferences> Audio" menu.

If everything fails, uninstalling and reinstalling SF can fix MP3 issues it in most cases
