Splitting orange MIDI tracks

keiron wrote on 6/23/2015, 5:36 AM

Hi I've recored a MIDI sequence that is on 16 tracks

I have set them from channel 1 through to 16 ie each track = a MIDI channel

The first recording has laid down the tracks ok but if I select a track all of the tracks are orange

This playes ok but I want to seperate the tracks for editing

I tied to use demix MIDI tracks but this does odd things and places things all over the place even on tracks I havent recorded any thing on?

Hi

. . . . I've recored a MIDI sequence that is on 16 tracks . . . .

How did you do the recording abnd from what ?

Was this a one take recording all channels to one track, followed by copying and pasting to the next 15 tracks and assigning each track a channel in the MIDI Editor?

Or did you make 16 seperate recordings each track recording a different channel from the MIDI device?

Hi

I have set up Samplitude to record all 18 tracks 1 to 16 are set to use channels 1 to 16  track 17 and 18 are set to audio tracks

I have recorded a song onto a multitrack sequencer on my keyboard

I have then exported the whole song which has 16 tracks each has it's own channel 1 to 16 as MIDI ver 1 ie each has it's own track it is not mixed down to a single track the MIDI track. This ends up over 16 seperate tracks

I find it easier to edit using Samplitude rather that the limited functions of the Keyboards Sequencer

On the first take lets say it contains 6 tracks channels 1 to 6, I normally use Channel 10 for drums, all of these tracks end up locked together. If I now record a further track from the Keyboard directly to Samplitude this one is seperate

Lets say I want to edit or export a single track. I can't when they are all locked together.

Hi

Recording channels assigned to different tracks as you have done creates a grouped object.  To seperate them click on the "Ungroup" symbol in the program toolbar or right click one of the selected
objects and select "Object -> Ungroup" from the context menu to ungroup the objects.
