While you cannot change the tempo of the sounds in the program, they can be slowed down or sped up by using them with sounds from another pack/pool that has a different set BPM. Other than that, I would search for the exact sound you need, open it in Audacity (a free program, if you don't know), and adjust the tempo that way. As for how to change the tempo in the program, you can do a quick YouTube or Google search to learn how. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT adjust the speed! Speed affects tempo AND pitch, which I assume in not your goal. Adjusting the tempo will make the sound faster, while retaining its original pitch.

Hi

. . . . Is there any way to speed up or slow down a sample? . . . .

Yes - dependant on the version of Music Maker you have.

  1. select the audio object you want to change

  2. press the E key to open the Object effect rack

  3. select Tempo/pitch and turn it on

  4. adjust the tempo and/or pitch parameters as required.

However, fitting the full 8 bars into 4 bars the sound will be played at double the tempo with no pitch change, eg drums will be played at double speed - this may be an undesired effect.

Hi, thanks for the response. johnebaker, I am currently using V 25.0.0.23 and pressing the "E" key whilst a sample is selected does nothing, instead i tried right clicking and going to tempo but i can only select MIDI transposition which affects pitch. I think I will need to edit the sample in audacity instead like jacob wrote. Thank you for the information nonetheless!

Hi!

You Can try the Tempo/Pitch resample: Time Stretch.

What is the full name of the program as found under Help, About . . . .

I suspect that you have the free version of the program, which has a limited number of effects (8) available and the Tempo/pitch effects is not one of them.

If you have the Plus or Premium version then you are missing effects - in which case you need to download and install them - AFAICS from other topics relating to effects and soundpools this is done through the Store, however I stand to be corrected on this.

@amenproletar

. . . . try the Tempo/Pitch resample: Time Stretch. . . . .

This effect is part of the Object effect rack and can be accessed via the rack as I posted above or via right click, Pitch and tempo, Timestretch/pitchshift - keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P.
