Soundforge weird behavior

Anyone else have this happen? Just got Sound Forge 14.0 installed under Win 10 Pro 64 bit. If I activate the levels toolbar, channel meters no longer work even though audio plays. I also have to keep other windows on my second monitor such as explorer, plugin manager and chainer, time display etc. I can't activate the levels toolbar or it's over. Also Soundforge won't retain preferences when shut down and scans all vst plugins every time it's opened. I have to just leave the program open and on my taskbar at all times!

AS or Pro? Are you referring to the playback meters? Which one? Is the meter docked? There are seven meter choices in Pro 14 as well as many options, i.e., types, standards and scales. Perhaps the one you have selected has a very low high range selection and the levels are not showing. Select the meter in the View menu, then right-click the meter for the options

I have never experienced and read of this behavior in any version of SF. Maybe reinstall SF with your secondary monitor temporarily disabled. IF you do reinstall, I usually recommend using a third-party uninstaller that also cleans the leftover folders, registry entries and other pertinent leftover files the OS uninstall leaves behind/

PRO.
Channel meters. and they freeze. But I have got the problem under control by having all extra windows on the second monitor. I can't open the level toolbar at all or the meters will freeze and I can't close the program or all my preferences will be forgotten and it will have to re-scan for all my plugins each time. VERY BUGGY but it's better than having to re-boot into Win 7 every time I want to use Sound Forge 13.0. I have to say I never had anything like this happen until versions 13.0 and 14.0 and I have been using Sound Forge since rversion 3!.

I now just leave the program open and on the taskbar and it works ok except for not being able to use levels toolbar and the inner part of the channel meters is a bit flashy but I can live with that.

I have Wavelab Elements 10 and no problems at all. My main DAW is SAWStudio 64 bit and zero problems. I have lots of plugins, no problems, just Sound Forge and only since 13.0.

Also, I can't get wave coloring to do anything at all!

When I got 13.0 and had the same issues, I uninstalled and re-installed many times, the normal way, and no change. I finally just installed it under Win 7 Pro 64 bit and it is perfect. I had hoped there would be no issues with 14.) but no luck.

Thanks.

@peter-c4044, why do you stick with SF when you have Wavelab? I'm considering switching. (Sorry if I just hijacked this topic, I'd be happy to start another one if anyone objects, assuming it's a kosher topic on a SF forum. The reference to Wavelab caught my attention)

Because each has their strengths and weaknesses and I like Sound Forge for certain things I do and Wavelab for other things. It's the same reason I have a number of compressor, EQ and reverb plugins, they all sound different and each works well for some things but not others.

Ok, so now, a day later, now Sound Forge does retain preferences and doesn't scan plugins before opening as it was. Just weird. Now, I can use the levels toolbar , just not dock it. If I leave it floating somewhere, meters work fine.
Can you say "BUGGY?" The channel meters work, though the inner part of the display is a bit "flashy"...maybe this will correct itself too, who knows? I can just use my bx meter plugin from Plugin Alliance.

Maybe try an older version of SF (prior to Pro-11). I often use Pro-10, if I do not need any of the 64 bit or later options. SCS changed some things (for the worse IMO) with Pro-11, specifically the 'Record' an 'Plug-in chainer'.

It's OK, I've got it pretty stable now. Seems lke it just wanted to burn in, somehow. It's remembering preferences and not scanning plugins every time now. Meters work as long as level toolbar is not docked at the top. It has calmed down, finally
