Soundforge Pro 12 Crashes on Launch

PsychotropicFilms wrote on 6/28/2018, 3:56 PM

I recently purchased Soundforge Pro 12.  After installation, it never successfully fully launched - Crashed on start (see attached screenshot showing  'Problem Details" error message).

I have a  Windows 10 up-to-date hardware gaming-quality laptop.  I have Vegas Pro 15 and Video ProX, XARA and Magix Samplitude Music Studio on this laptop all working satisfactory.

I believe this to be a legacy Sony (Vegas / Soundforge) programming issue because I have seen this 'start-up' crash going years back with Sony Vegas software .

Note: I have tried all the basic troubleshooting,  re-installing the software, disabling anit-virus software during installation, cleaning memory and registry.

If you have not done so already, contact Magix tech support .

Just installed the trial version of Sound Forge 12. Crashes on startup as well. Window 10, fast computer etc. Very disappointing. Back to Sound Forge 9.

marc-salvatore: I'm still working on trying to find a solution with MAGIX support. Actually, they have been responsive and helpful, but we haven't figured it out yet. I will post a solution when and if I can figure it out.

The issue I'm having with crash on start-up has not been resolved, but Magix support has been assisting in troubleshooting. HOWEVER, I was told a patch (update) of SoundForge Pro 12 will be coming in August and that Magix's developers have been working on issues related to start-up/launch; so we're going to see if that resolves the problem for me and if not further troubleshooting will be undertaken.

I'm late to this party, but did you ever resolve this?

I forgot the solution (if there was one), but I think it had something to do with a corrupt plug-in. Now I'm onto SoundForge Pro 14 with no issues.
