Soundcard

Zygmunt-Skalski wrote on 1/15/2024, 3:22 AM

Hi,

I installed Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab 4 on a new computer (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700 CPU @ 2.90GHz, Windows 11 Pro) and I can't record anything in this program. Message is displayed: No Soundcard found. Sound Forge ACL needs a correctly installed Soundtrack. I have Nividia High Def Audio, Nividia Virtual Audio and Realtek on my computer. The program SFACL4 plays SFACL3 recordings from the old computer but does not record new ones.

My new computer records both image and sound In other programs without any problems.

On my older computer, the SFACL3 program worked flawlessly.

Can you help me solve the problem?

Best regards,

Zygmunt S.

@Zygmunt-Skalski Please check if you have enabled microphone access permissions for all programs in the Windows security settings. Windows blocks audio recording for security reasons. Usually, if you enable it, it should work fine. On the other hand, it's odd that other programs on your computer can record. Maybe there is another problem. But I recommend you first check the permissions:

Hi,

From everything; from external audio device (CD+DVD), from the computer (Youtube). Maybe I can't find a place where Windows 11 could block the audio (Is it possible?). But on my old computer (which broke down), Windows 10 did not block anything.

A few more days and maybe I'll ask an IT specialist for help.

Thank you for trying to help

Hi,

I'm very, very sorry for replying so late. In the meantime, I used the services of two IT specialists, they did not help. Two screen shots below.

One of IT specialists suggested using an external USB sound card. If it would help, what external card would help. I tried Creative App and it didn't work. I have Windows 11 on my computer.

Hi

. . . . Nividia High Def Audio, Nividia Virtual Audio and Realtek . . . .

The only one of these you can record from is the Realtek HDA.

In the Windows Sound settings ensure that the Stereo mixer is enabled and set as the default recording device and try recording using this as the input.

@Zygmunt-Skalski

A bit of a long shot, perhaps, but: In the screenshot of your SFACL4 settings you have 44.1kHz set as the sample rate. In your latest screenshot of the Realtek settings the sample rate is 48kHz. Since you are dealing with audio-only recordings, try changing the Realtek sample rate to 44.1kHz.

Does this help?

Hi,

It doesn't work with Realtek sample rate 44.1kHz and with Realtek sample rate 48kHz.

But maybe the problem is in the Stereo mix input option in System Sound settings. Here's what I have.

I suspect that the system does not find any input devices, i.e. the sound card built into the computer.He supposedly found an external sound card, but instead of music or speech, nothing was recorded. Silence.

@Zygmunt-Skalski

Hi

I have also found I could not record from the Stereo Mixer with any program on my system - there was no audio activity in the Stereo Mixer.

Try the following, which worked for me:

  1. Press Windows key + R to open a command prompt

  2. Type Control and click OK

  3. Select Sounds in the control panel

  4. Set the Speakers as the default playback device - see image below

  5. If the speakers are already set to default, select one of the other devices and make it the default , then set the Speakers to Default again.

Note: The Stereo Mixer only works when the default playback device is the Speakers.
