sound over sound

I record and the red moving horizontal line rushes and head then repeat and records a second sound over the first!

I suggest that you watch this tutorial on Getting Started in MusicMaker.

Not sure what you mean. Are you recording audio or MIDI? Did you extend the Yellow bar out far enough to record the length that you want? Screen shot?
