Sound Issues With 2021 Premium

Wistmans-Wood wrote on 7/5/2020, 2:13 PM

Hi,

I've recently upgraded from 2017 Premium to 2021 Premium and I'm now having problems with the sound.

If I load MM it has exclusive control of the sound, I'm not able to play anything else at the same time. This is really frustrating as I used to have a sample manager open and drag an drop from there or I sometimes take a break and go on to Youtube but I get an 'Audio Render Issue. Please restart your Computer'. This was never an issue before upgrading.

I have a Windows 10 PC with an AMD HDMi soundcard which goes through an Onkyo 5.1 amp. I used to use Direct Sound setting when I was using MM 2017 Premier but now when I plug in my Akai LPK25 midi Keyboard I had to switch from Direct Sound to ASIO.

Any ideas please. Thank you.

Mark

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

One of the limitations of the ASIO specification is that it requires "exclusive" access, i.e you can use only one "sound source" at a time! Theoretically the free ASIO4All driver (on which the Magix Low Latency driver is based but does not have the full functionality of ASIO4All) does allow multiple sound sources to be selected and used simultaneously. Perhaps download and install it and see whether you can make it work for you? (It does not conflict with the Magix driver; I have both plus a separate ASIO driver for my audio interface.) You will need to access the Advanced Interface of ASIO4All to see and make any changes to all its settings.

I've never been able to get ASIO4All to allow other programs to use the computers audio at the same time as Music Maker. I use the FLStudio ASIO and this does work. You can download a demo of FLStudio which should give access to the FLStudio ASIO.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for the info and suggestion. I tried the ASIO4All driver but no joy.
