@Rick-Dailey First of all, this is a user forum and we are all users like you. No Magix staff is active here.

Next, there was a user some days ago, who solved this problem by installing updates. I assume they were taking about Windows updates.

This is a new computer with up-to-date Window 11. Nothing is wrong with it. The only reason I posted here is because I am a new member with my first purchase and Magix REFUSES TO SUPPORT CUSTOMERS and tells them to post here. I have already discovered that Magix does not provide an address, a phone number, support, or anything for customers. This is terrible!

Check your Security-->Protection History for any blocking?

Some recent W11 updates may have changed the access to required directories.

What are you taking about? Click on the SUPPORT link at the top of this page, select Sound Forge Pro, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Contact Support and send an email.

This is not at all what I see when I go to the SUPPORT link at the top of this page. It tells me to ask a question HERE. There is NO MESSAGE to select "Sound Forge Pro." At the bottom of the page there is not "Contact Support" button.

Requesting a support ticket is a bit confusing @Rick-Dailey , these instructions may help

Magix does not offer phone support.. As @SP. stated, this is a user group. The moderators are not Magix employees either and cannot issue refunds and such.

Okay, now I understand what is happening. Microsoft 11 is refusing installation of any programs. There are numerous posts all over the internet that explain how to get around this, and I have been trying for hours now, but nothing works. I was told above that there is support by MAGIX but you say that only people here can help which seems to be true. I am going to cancel my credit card payment and disable my purchase of Sound Forge. Too bad that Microsoft is now refusing to install programs. As noted above, I have seen this all over the internet today and nothing that I have tried allows me to install MAGIX. Don't know what I am going to do now. Probably try go back to Windows 8 that works very well.

You can try emailing Magix customer service at: infoservice@magix.net

Ok. I've been having the "Abort, Retry, Cancel " menu dialog problem with all those small size Magix downloaders (that preclude the actual installers) and this has been happening for a couple of years already. All the times I have tried that install route.

I do utilize Windows 10 in my system and have tried all, really all, kinds of permission modifications, firewall rules, turn offs, exceptions, specific folder and file permissions, Windows Defender deactivation, etc, etc. Even tried refreshing Windows and creating a second account. All attempts with no positive results respect these Magix Installation Manager files.

The only workaround to these failures has been to bypass these actual small downloaders and install from the complete downloaded installer files of each specific software.
Apparently the issues reside at - yet undisclosed - accompanying processes and user system activity trackers that Magix executes with these "install managers".
I tried once asking Magix support about what else was involved here and their only response was for me to reinstall windows, in other words, no available information from Magix about this.

Rick-Dalley, I suggest you locate the actual large and complete Sound Forge 18 installer and proceed with it.
Actually I am in the actual need and search of this installer right now for the same reason as well.
So I (and I presume you too Rick-Dalley) will be grateful if someone at this forum is able to provide a link for this file. Thanks in advance.

Note that I acquired this version together with the complete VEGAS 22 Suite upgrade and even at VEGAS' own forum pinned thread about locating installers they have not been able to provide a Sound Forge 18 direct installer file!
That official forum thread states about it: "I can no longer find the direct links to installers for these apps (and their components). Please let me know if you know them: (...) SOUND FORGE Pro 18". So, I hope here at Sound Forge own's forum better results could be had.

@Cielspacing I've read some days ago, that it might be necessary to enable TLS encryption in the Internet Properties like shown here in the "How to Enable TLS 1.2 Windows 11/10/7/Server" paragraph:

https://www.minitool.com/news/enable-tls-1-2-windows-10-11-7.html

Thank You SP. but in this case why fix an old . NET framework (4.6) TL 1.2 requirement that has been phased out many years ago, actually before Windows 10 was released for the installation of a Magix downloader, when we customers could just download the direct installer instead?

However, I went to try your proposed fix and according to my Internet Explorer configuration already al TL versions are activated. Upon verifying this, went for the registry edits that were suggested, but those bumped me into various loops (".NET 4.6 already installed", "NetFxRepairTool does not work", etc, etc.).
Again these are not regular configuration to be applied by professional Magix customers. I happen to have a long history of repairing and maintenance of Computers because for the previous 20+ years, Audio PC systems were required to be carefully streamlined otherwise those wouldn't run or produce buffer underruns, interrupts, etc caused audio issues.

At 2025, or more precisely since Windows 7 64 bits and later Windows 10 and 11 there are configuration guides, detailed enough to install professional audio software. CMD and regedit, powershell and other deeper tools shouldn't be called.
*Note that we are here not fixing or finding a workaround of the actual audio software, but a repair of a particular avenue to install it 😳

Again, would someone be so kind to share a link for the actual Sound Forge 18 direct installer, please?
