When I try to use any VST with the ASIO Driver (Magix Low Latency 2016), sound is re-directed from Headphones to External Speakers. See attached screenshots for sound configuration settings.
Also happens on playback of projects, too. Hopefully, the FBI won't figure out I'm using Music Maker to send coded messages to others. I don't want to blow my cover.
Sorry. I should have clarified that it's my laptop's built-in speakers when I say external speakers as opposed to my plugged in ear buds. When I use Direct Sound as the driver, project playback (to my ear buds or speakers) works fine, but I get no sound when I'm trying to play a VST. When I switch to the ASIO driver I lose sound for project playback, but VST sound is enabled but only outputs to my laptop's built-in speakers.
. . . . When I switch to the ASIO driver I lose sound for project playback, but VST sound is enabled but only outputs to my laptop's built-in speakers . . .
Try installing ASIO4All and using this as the ASIO driver.
. . . . What do the yellow symbols mean? . . . descriptor saying 'Beyond Logic!' . . . .
This usually means there is a mismatch in the samplerate as set in the sound card and what is expected - is the sound card set to 44.1 or 48 kHz samplerate?
Here are a couple of screenshots showing the advanced device settings.
Under Realtek HD Audio 2nd output with SST, it shows In: 2x 48k Hz. 16Bits
Under Realtek HD Audio output with SST, it also shows In: 2x 48k Hz. 16Bits
One thing I noticed with the ASIO4ALL driver installed is it (apparently) disables the Windows audio driver because I could get no sound playback in Windows Media Player. When I close Music Maker, then sound playback worked again.
@dmstar1956 Yes, that's normal with ASIO4ALL. It only works in exclusive mode. You need another ASIO driver, if you want to non-exclusive audio playback. For example you could use the FL Studio ASIO driver that comes with the free demo version of FL Studio. Or you need to buy an external USB audio interface with ASIO drivers. I also believe that the new Music Maker ASIO driver in Music Maker 2023 works in non-exclusive mode. This driver replaced the old Magix Low Latency 2016 driver.
The sample rate of audio inputs can be changed in the Windows sound settings. You can also allow there, that program can change these settings by themselves. The sample rates of your Music Maker project can be changed in the project settings.
