Sound card problem

When I try to play I get the message "The sample rate 44100 Hz could not be set. Your sound card is possibly synchronized to an external source." How do I correct this?

@JOHN-FRIERSON The first thing I would try is to reboot the computer. If this doesn't help you need to set the sample rate manually in the audio driver settings.
