Sony Movie Studio 17 - Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) WRITE:0

I recently installed Movie Studio 17. I am unable to open the application and get this error message:

Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) WRITE:0x0000000000000000 IP:0x0000000000000000
