SongMaker Templates

MM2022 Premium, v30.x.x.44

1)
When SongMaker is open, there's a "More templates and functions in the Store" line at the bottom of the Genre list.  But I don't see anything in the Store that relates to this?  (I didn't see anything in Help about acquiring new templates.)

2)
I recently purchased the "Bestseller Bundle" through the Store -- that added several Soundpools to my collection, at firesale pricing. I must admit I haven't paid much attention to the details of the Genre list before, but it looks like I now have at least one new Genre after this purchase -- "Soul - Downtown Soul", under Soul/R&B. There is a corresponding DowntownSoul Soundpool.

If that's so, it makes me think at least some Genres are supplied with purchased Soundpools.  Is this correct? Anybody else noticed this?

3)
I have a bunch of template files here (35 total at the moment):
  C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Music Maker\30\SongTemplates

For each xml file, I see a corresponding json file.  Is this something new?  @SP has suggested editing (copy/edit) existing xml files to create/modify Genres.  I would think the json file has to be edited, too?

Thanks,
John

@gjonny In my opinion these json templates are used by the Song Maker AI. These files were also introduced to Soundpools. I'm not 100% sure what the numbers inside them could mean. Maybe they show the position of a drum hit inside the loop.

I also have 35 Song Maker Templates in my folder. I don't think there are more available at this moment.

I contacted Magix Support as well, asking for clarification (see response below).  They confirmed your feedback.  It's indeed been wishful thinking on my part, that there are more templates.

And, they're not giving away any secrets re editing the template files. :-)

From Magix:
"I believe the display of this option for more functions/templates when you're already using the full/AI version of Song Maker is by mistake. Essentially, this option is there to advertise the full Song Maker in the free version of Music Maker, where you're limited when it comes to Song Maker templates and functionality. If you are a Premium users, you already have everything that you can currently get. I shall talk to my colleagues at sales to consider redesigning this in a way that this option will be hidden when already running the full AI version of Song Maker. (It is possible that additional templates can be purchased in the future, though.)

Regarding your other question: The templates were created in cooperation with our musicians who also produce most of our soundpool content. Unfortunately, at this stage, there's no option to create and save your own custom templates. However, the consideration for such a feature is indeed on the table for the future development of the Music Maker product line."

A followup note. . .

@Fonzy has published an online Template editor. Find the link here:
