Someone else using music I created

I created a one minute track using soundpools from music maker jam on android and gave it to my brother in law to use in his youtube video.

Is he allowed to use content I created through the app and monitize his video? I did not think of licencing problems since I just got the app and created something quickly with it and passed it along.

I received no financial gain from giving him the track. He credited me and linked to my youtube account which has no content.

I just don't want him to run into any problems.

Hi

This is a bit of a grey area - for this I would suggest you contact support at magix.com and ask their opinion.

The most likely issue you will encounter is someone claiming you have 'stolen' their copyrighted music which has also been created using Magix soundpools.

Magix own the copyright to the soundpools - users of the soundpools have a licence to use the soundpools - the level of use ie personal, commercial etc depends on the licence level held for the soundpools used  if you are interested there is a comparison chart here.

Youtube appear not to be very accommodating regarding claims of copyright and appear not to allow for the fact, by using common Soundpools to create with, the end result will be similar sounding music.
