Size of edited recording

I edited a CD MAGIX 2013 project with MP3 files of 684MB using Windows 7. Desktop

I added nothing to it but removed some unnecessary 'gaps'

The result is 861MB in length and will not fit on a normal CD. It's about 25% overweight [861MB]!

What's gone wrong? Is there anything I can do about it except delete some of the files?

The quality of the previous disk was quite satisfactory.

Hi Francis,

How did you export your file?  If you added nothing and only removed a segment, the file should be the same size or smaller.  Did you try to export is as MP3? or something else such as .wav?

Hi

To add to Georges reply - did you change the quality setting to something higher than CD quality ie 44.1 kHz, 16-Bit ?
