Showing more tracks

SuperSonic wrote on 12/14/2019, 3:34 AM

So, I know that i can stretch projects horizontally to show more or less of the timeline. But I cant find a way to show more tracks vertically. As of now, I can only see 4 tracks in the window at a time. I am able to make one track shorter, but I cant seem to get more than one to shrink at a time. I would like to be able to see 10 or so tracks in the window, but they all stay super tall, only allowing me to see 4 at a time in the editing window. Anyone know how I can make all of the tracks shorter, allowing me to see more in the window at once? It really slows down projects having to scroll up and down to different tracks. A lot of time would be saved if I could see more tracks at once. Is there a way to do this, and if so, what's the trick to get it do so?

I am using Music Maker 2020. I remember being able to do this in several previous versions, like 12, 13, and 15. (yea... I'm addicted to this software.) I started using Music Maker in 2009, but I haven't been doing any production for the past 3 or 4 years now, so I have forgotten a lot of the tricks of the program. Although many things have been coming back to me, being able to see several tracks in the window at once is not one that is coming back.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi

. . . . But I cant find a way to show more tracks vertically . . . .

Press the Tab key and then close Music Maker, restarting you should now see more tracks, however if you are using the free version then there is a maximum of 8 tracks available to you.

For the Plus and Premium versions there are more tracks available and you set how many you require in the Projects settings under File, Settings ( A key)

Once you have more tracks visible you can set the height as you require - right click the track header area to the left of of a track

That isnt working for me. It allows me to shrink one track if i grab the bar and pull it up, but if i try to do that with a second track, the one i already adjusted just goes back to the big size. I found that window you showed me, but changing the height of the tracks in those settings doesnt change anything. I'll show you what's happening via an image.

So the top track is what i want all of them to do, but any time i adjust any other track, the first one gets huge again. I would like to be able to make multiple tracks small like that first one so i can see more layers. Even smaller than how i have the first one set would be super cool, but i would be happy to be able to see 10 tracks at a time rather than just 3 and a half. I would really like to be able to see around 20 tracks in the window at once, but even 8 or so would be amazing. I am using the paid version of 2020. Just got it yesterday!

Now that worked! That put me to 8 tracks visible at a time. I can deal with that. I see you have around a dozen or so in your video. Any chance you can tell me how you were able to achieve that? If not, its no big deal. What you have taught me today has made my life sooooo much easier, and will shave many hours off my weeks of producing voiceovers. And for that, i am truly grateful. If you have the time to show me how to get what you have done accomplished, i would even more ecstatic than i am now. But If you have more important fish to fry, i completely understand. I cant express how grateful i really am for you taking the time to show me this ungodly lifesaving property, so i certainly wont be complaining if you have no more time to help with that last little tip. You, man, are a lifesaver.

I have two identical monitors (1920 x 1080 each) and usually work with the arranger full screen on one and all the other panes on the second.

If your display has a lower resolution or working on a laptop then the number of tracks you can see at once may be reduced.

Yes. I did the tab thing, which worked like a charm. You telling me to use a seperate monitor for the arrangement was the final touch. I dont know why I didnt think of that. So, yea, everything is perfect! I also use multiple monitors. In my old age, gets hard to see. I recently upgraded to three 40" screens.

Anyhow, your help is exactly what i was looking for. I can't tell you how much you have helped make my work easier. Now that i can see 13 tracks at a time, life is good again. Thanks again!

Hi

. . . . 3 monitors . . . .

I have 3 pairs of glasses - a driving, computer and reading pair. 😂😂😂

Seriously though - if you need glasses have you looked into a pair specifically for computer use?

My computer pair are prism lenses set so that the focal region is the same as the distance to my monitors ~ 2ft / 60cm.

Hi,

I presume that you also found the 2 buttons at the upper right to turn the bottom and right windows off and on?

Two-40" screens? Wow!
