SF Pro 14 Asking For Validation Again

sean-mccoy wrote on 8/27/2020, 3:28 PM

Recently upgraded to SF Pro 14 and registered it online. Today I can't open it as it's asking for online activation again, and my workstation isn't normally online. There isn't even an offline option offered. What's the deal? Does it have to be periodically re-activated? If so, that's a major, unnecessary headache, and I do not approve. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Sound Forge and Vegas need to be online for the initial activation, updates, opening or rendering specific codecs that have not been registered prior. So the bottom line is, SF needs to phone home occasionally. Build update 111 was very recently published, so that may have something to do with the current behavior.

I did activate it initially, register the mp3 codec, and get a recent update online, but I've opened and closed it a number of times since then while offline. Required random online activation checks aren't built into the program, are they?

I believe SF attempts to "phone home" every few weeks.

It says on their support page "After initial activation you are able to use the software without a permanent internet connection!", so I'm hoping you're right that this is just a matter of a one-time re-validation of my registration after an update.
