SF 14 x64 borks on initializing audio engine

Sound Forge audio studio has stopped working...

Sigh. I just purchased this and have so far re-installed it. Tried the asio4all drivers. No joy on getting it to run.

System is a Window7 machine with an i7 6950x 128GB RAM 1TB NVME ... I have sound forge 10 / sound forge audio cleaning lab/ Reaper. Also using Vegas Pro 17 with no issues and of course multitudes of other software for content creation purposes.

By all rights this should fire right up. What's wrong. Included readme file states that it should run on W7 so....

Also discovered that having Sound Forge 14 installed would then have Vegas Pro 17 not start up, as it too would then bork upon attempting to initialized something called (I'm drawing from memory as the exact name may be slightly different) "Magix Asio 2016"...it sits long enough for me to see the name of the attempted initialization and then the program quits with a Windows error that this program has stopped working.

I then uninstalled Sound Forge 14 and Vegas Pro 17 started again normally.

Hi Ralf,

Sound Forge Audio Studio and Sound Forge Pro 14 are both incompatible with Windows 7, however, having pointed that out, I have heard of other users with Windows 10 that had this problem. One person said that running the 32 bit version of the program resolved it...however, if you do that, you won't be able to use your 64 bit plugins...so that's not ideal. But, it's good that you mention that it's saying something about the Magix driver (I'm assuming it's the Magix Low Latencey 2016 Asio driver)...perhaps if you remove that driver, the program will work...it's worth a shot, anyway. You can remove it by doing the following:

Press the Window key + R to access the registry. Then type REGEDIT in the pop up window:

then follow the path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ASIO > Magix Low Latency 2016...and delete the Magix Low Latency folder:

Then, scroll down to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > WOW6432Node > ASIO > Magix Low Latency 2016, and delete this Magix Low Latency 2016 file as well

So try that and see if it helps the issue...but do keep in mind that SFAS and SFP14 are incompatible with Windows 7, so you may find other glitches unless you upgrade to Windows 10. Hope this helps!

Try the Classic Wave or Sound Mapper audio device driver for AS. You should need the ASIO for an editing app.
