Hi,

There are a couple of ways, depending on whether or not you want to remove a piece from just one track or all tracks and close the gap. You should learn to use all of the editing tools.

Remove a range

Put the beginning of the range bar (the yellow bar at the top) where you want to start the cut, the right end at the end of the cut. Top menu, Edit, Cut range. This will remove the range from all tracks.

Remove a piece from just one track

Put the playback marker where you want to start the cut. Select the object to cut. Click on the scissor in the top menu or press T to split the object. Put the playback marker where you want to end the cut. Scissors or T. Select the clip, Delete. This will leave a gap.

If there is only 1 object to the right of the gap. Drag it to the left. If many, change mouse mode to "Move within track" (shortcut Ctrl+2) by clicking on the mouse move dropdown button on the top menu. Drag the first object to the right and drag to the left; all other objects to the right will move with it. Switch back to single object mouse mode (Ctrl+1).
