As an avid user of VideoRedo, I love it's mouse-wheel scrolling feature where you can scroll from anywhere on the screen, and you can set the scroll jump to change ie increase the frame jump amount up by holding down the Shift or CTRL keys. I have mine set on Scroll=1 frame, Scroll+CTRL=10 frames, Scroll+Shift=10 seconds. It makes it very easy to find/locate a particular frame in the video eg a scene change.
In Magix, the scroll on the timeline obviously moves you through the timeline. I find I really get slowed down when I want to find a particular frame, such as a scene change, because all the options, dragging the play marker, or using the small jog wheel area combined with the single ,slow, speed scroll too fiddly. I can speed through with the shuttle but that again is fiddly to use quickly.
I'm thinking of proposing the following:
- That the scroll function be given a second speed by allowing use of the Shift key to say x5 of the normal scroll jump ie single mouse wheel scroll=one frame, mouse wheel+Shift=5 frame jump.
- Expanding the area where the pointer is allowed to be to include all of the space around the current jog wheel and also the monitor itself. As far as I can see, scrolling on the monitor (also with SHIFT) would not be an issue; scroll+CTRL changes the zoom so that couldn't be used.
Thoughts? Is there any impediment to this ie any conflicts with current operations?
