I Have Movie studio 2023 Platinum upgraded from Serif MoviePlus. I have played with screen recorder and found that the last 8 seconds or so of recording are clipped from the end when dragged onto the timeline. Any ideas?
I too use OBS studio. I have no problems producing files that can be edited at quite low bit rates but still quite high quality.
Most of the videos I place directly onto these topics are straight from an OBS capture as they are quick to load and processed by this website.
Downsides, don't record more than one two channel audio input unless you are using Video Pro X or Magix Movie Studio will not cope with the amount of audio tracks in use properly.
It can be fiddly to set up correctly as far as fining an encoding solution that produces files that can be easily edited but not impossible once you figure out the codec settings.
You can't change the looks of the cursor in use and makes highlighting mouse movements harder so see unless you use Windows to modify your mouse movement.
Upsides.
Very light computer resource wise to run.
Very flexible in abilities and can do far more than I've figured out to do.
Now supports and can use av1 for live streaming to YouTube.
Can apply sub picture in picture while recording.
Records audio regardless of other applications usage of ASIO or Direct X.
Able to add third party extensions if desired.
Output video codecs available are reasonably extensive.
. . . . don't record more than one two channel audio input ..... or Magix Movie Studio will not cope with the amount of audio tracks in use properly . . . .
There is a work around for this that gives you all streams and reduces the load on MMS/system with 2 or more streams - see @browj2's tutorial here - the mixdown is repeated for all audio streams.

& just to throw my penny in, I use Nvidia Geforce, Alt+F1 records the screen & Alt+F9 takes a snapshot, there's more to it, but I don't go there 🤷♂️
