Save and properly load video effect........removing video effect without damaging or erasing video object

jrockey wrote on 4/19/2013, 10:37 AM

I am having trouble saving video effects and or reloading them to apply to another video object.  I  used design elements/image objects and applied a pulsing arrow.  I reduced its size and rotatied it and pointed it at person on video.  I then saved it under movement effects control panel and named it arrow.  How do I apply it to another object........If I load it it rotates the left window video object.......is this a software problem.  the arrow disappears........I want to add arrow to 20 different objects.    Also I do I remove video effect once its attached to video object.........they seem linked forever........erase effect object or video object both are gone

help, Jason

Hi

Pulsating arrow - you need to add the arrow to each object and apply the saved video effects to the arrow.

Saving a video effect only saves the keyframe animations and other effects applied to an object eg the arrow - it does not save the object as well.

Resetting video effects on a clip - right click the clip and select Video effects, Reset video effects or select the clip and press Ctrl + Alt + -  this will reset all the effects applied to that.

Hi

To isolate the arrow from the clip it is attached to - select the arrow then click the Unlink  (broken chain) icon just above the timeline.   You can now aply any size/movements and other effects as you need, then save the effects for the arrow.

To apply the effects to any other arrows - unlink them from the video object first.

You can relink the objects if you wish, however they must be unlinked to save/apply effects.

. . . . what is green element is save box . . .

Can you post a screen shot of this or explain where it appears.

Thanks

John

John, this unlink does not work......it only unlinks the audio track from the video object in my case.  There is no way to tranfer video effects to an image Object using load effects.........you must do it manually.  This is what Magix tech support has declared.......

Hi

I love a challenge

Here is a more detailed explanation of the method  I posted previously - try it with 2 still images on the timeline one after the other:

1.   Select the first still image and select Effects, Design Elements, Image objects, Present and add an arrow to the first image.

2.   Click the arrow in the lower track to select it - this is what I think you are not doing - then Unlink it

3.   Select Effects, Movement effects, Size / Position - resize the arrow and move it eg  to the centre of the image, apply a rotation effect if you wish

4.   Right click the arrow and select Video effects, Copy video effects  - leave all selected and click Continue

5.   Repeat steps 1 and 2  for the second image

6.   Right click the second arrow and select Video objects, Paste video effects

Job done

In step 4 you can Save video effects and in step 6 load the video effects instead if you wish to keep them for future use.

You can also relink the object back to the images afterwards if you wish.
