How does MEPP react to the situation if frames are added or changed on the folder imported?

I am not sure, you will just have to try it.

Pulling a folder of images on a track produces a long string of images each seconds long. Modifying the program defaults to one frame per picture causes UI issues, likely the sequencer does not like import of hundreds of images, also it does not import them where I drop but into the first free track. How do I do a "PNG Sequence"?

Hi

I have imported at least 2900+ image files created using the interval timer on my camera with no issue.

To avoid an issue with the UI trying to update while changing the length of hundreds of images you must make a slight change to the system setting - set the Image import length in Program settings to 1 frame.

The images should then import with no problem.

An alternative method, if you can export the Alpha channel as a monochrome video, is to import this into MEP and apply Chromakey Alpha in MEP - this is the technique I use for creating masks and transitions.

A .PNG sequence would be a series of stills similar to the Targa sequence but it may be better quality. AFAIK Blender should be able to produce this. MEP uses .png 32bit Alpha files for it's included overlay effects.

To make the series of stills easier to move around in the timeline, select them all and group them.

One thing that comes to mind is that your problems with your original questions might be due to the fact that you are still in Multicam mode. Have you tried your original overlay object with another single clip in a new project?

Hi, Peter,

I left multicam mode after the final cut was done, so that is not a problem anymore. The original HuffYuf problem is also visible in an exported video. I have now done the PNG sequence approach and that seems to be fine, the grouping helps a little. I found a bug that you can import a folder of PNG only on track 1 - so I have to move it around after. It is a little inconvenient that in zoom out the frames are not thumbnailed to the group, but that is a minor issue.

Cheers,

Kai

I see that the latest 16.0.4.98 patch lists "Error fixes" in "editing Alpha channel material" as one of the changes.

I have not applied the patch yet so not sure what has been fixed.

Still no support for exporting to an RGBA video file??? Looks like everyone here tried that and nothing works (QT animation, uncompressed, etc.). A PNG sequence won't work for me -- that is what I'm starting with on the timeline. I want to export that sequence to a video file with alpha so that I can re-import it and apply a blur filter to it with keyframes--I don't think that is possible with a PNG sequence on the timeline. I'm trying to simulate having the camera focus in my movie shift from the 3D animation in my PNG image sequence to the background video on a separate track. So I think I have to export my 3D animation with it's alpha channel to apply and keyframe the blue filter on that track to begin it in focus and end blurred when I do the opposite to the underlying background.

@Keith-Furman

Hi

MEP supports the Alpha channel on import only.

. . . . 3D animation in my PNG image sequence . . .

Which program did you use to create the 3D animation images?

I often use Blender to create an effect for use in in MEP and export from Blender as a RGBA AVI file.

Blender should also be able to load your PNG sequence and export it as RGBA AVI.
