Removing Splash Screen and plugin scanning

Andrew-Atwill wrote on 9/18/2020, 5:11 AM

Just quickly asking (with a piccy). Is there any area I can stop the splash screen which by default has an "on top of everything" and the plugin rescan at every boot? I get that the scan only looks for new plugins and the update 21.03.19 seems to have dramatic speed increases on loading. Is there any way to disable the scan without completely removing the plugin paths? That is some way I can tell it to manually scan only when I add in a new plugin? I can live with it if I have to but if there is an *.ini file somewhere or settings file as it doesn't seem available in the normal program or project settings, I'd appreciate knowing rather than messing around looking in every possible file.

Thanks

Hi

. . . . Is there any area I can stop the splash screen which by default has an "on top of everything" and the plugin rescan at every boot? . . . .

AFAIK none, if there was you would still be waiting for the program to load completely before it is available to start working with.

Thanks John, but it would be nice at the least to have a checkbox with "Always on Top" that can be deselected so it does not take over everything.

Cheers

You drag it to the side of the screen so it's less annoying which is an improvement on previous version where it wasn't moveable.

@Graham-Hawker I can move the scan plugins dialog but that's a big no to the splash screen. After it has finished plugin scan, it remains as always, on top of everything and absolute in its position.

I have no problem moving it. Perhaps it takes a couple of clicks to get it moving sometimes. I move it almost off screen just by grabbing the top left corner.

@Graham-Hawker Thanks for that. It does not respond to mouse clicks for me in the middle but a big yes to the upper left corner and you do not have to wait for the plugins to stop the scan. Cheers.

I don't need to wait for the scan to stop. I was wondering about your window arrangement if the scan window sits directly above the splash screen. My scan window sits elsewhere. Perhaps move the scan screen first.

@Graham-Hawker Thanks Graham. I didn't want to write a novel 😂 but I should have been a little more descriptive that I could drag the scan plugins and until you told me to drag the left corner, I could not de-centralise the splash screen. I don't have to wait either. The new update is a lot smoother in several areas too. Cheers
